Nostalgia.

its a gloomy, rainy day this am, usually my favorite kind of day. The only problem is, gloomy days cause me to remember the Irishman, because we were together during the late fall and winter. And it doesnt help that I dreamt about him (or things connected to him) all night long. As I write this, only an hour has passed, but already the details are fading away, leaving me with a lasting sense of nostalgia.

Breathe deep the gathering gloom,
Watch lights fade from every room.
Bedsitter people look back and lament,
Another day’s useless energy spent.

Impassioned lovers wrestle as one,
Lonely man cries for love and has none.
New mother picks up and suckles her son,
Senior citizens wish they were young.

Cold hearted orb that rules the night,
Removes the colours from our sight.
Red is gray and yellow white,
But we decide which is right.

And which is an illusion?
—-The Moody Blues

Actually, I AM glad its a gloomy, rainy day.

  1. A little nostalgia every once in a while is good.

*hangs head and walks away, sad music plays*

  2. yeah, thats nice and all, but one of the saddest songs I ever heard was by Cat Stevens (when he was still Cat Stevens:

  3. Bah, hambug, if sadness is the only factor we’re taking into consideration, any piece of rap music could easily beat both of these. The Lonely Man Theme beats all with the nostalgia factor.

NOTE: Haven’t actually clicked your link yet, I’m not on my decent computer.

  4. rap isnt sad, rap is lame. The lonely man theme is ok and all but it doesnt quite convey the depth of loss I feel, sorry. edited out the bitchiness. again.

  5. I’m not trying to cause a big s-s-sensation…

And The Lonely Man Theme isn’t about loss, it’s about having no idea where to go next, but moving on anyway, hoping you’ll be happy one day.
I just listened to your link…certainly not bad, but not my cup of tea.
Paint It, Black is my favorite “Loss” song…VNV Nation’s Forsaken is sheer epic, as well.

  6. I like the way your mind works. Sorry for being a bitch, by the way.

I think my favorite “loss” song is “I dont wanna talk about it” by Rod Stewart, but there may be others I dont know. I just cant think of them right now…

  7. Sadness is naught but the replacement of which we want, but do not have.

  8. Ehh… replace “which” with “what”.
    I don’t know anybody who wants sadness…

  9. hence my nostalgia…

  10. Well, uh….. yeah…. lol it’s a funny word… hehe….
